FREE FLU SHOTS FOR SENIORS

Flu season has arrived! Protect yourself with a FREE flu shot. 
The flu shot is recommended and offered free for those at high risk of flu-related complications: 
·      People 65 years of age or older 
·      Those with chronic lung (asthma, emphysema) or heart problems 
·      Other chronic diseases such as diabetes, kidney or immunological problems 
·      Women who will be in their second or third trimester of pregnancy during the flu season ·        Shots are available, by appointment only, on two dates:

Sponsored by State Senator Liz Krueger Free Flu Shots: My office along with Lenox Hill Senior Center, St. Peters Church and Visiting Nurse Service are cosponsoring free flu shots this October 18th.  Appointments are still available between 10:45 AM and 12:45 AM, and will be given at St. Peter’s Church, Senior Center, 619 Lexington Ave at 54th St. Flu shots are free but shots are limited and availability is on a first come, first served basis.  To make an appointment please call the Office of Senator Liz Krueger: (212) 490-9535.

Pet and Elder Empowerment Project   

Search and Care has created the Pet and Elder Empowerment Project (PEEP), aimed at helping Seniors who have pets that they need help caring for.  The program provides volunteers to help with feeding, trips to the vet, walking, and other care.  For Seniors who no longer have pets and miss their companionship, volunteers will also offer visits with their pets.  The program is available to residents of the area served by Search and Care, which includes 86th Street to 110th Street, from 5th Avenue to the East River.  If you or someone you know would could benefit from this program, or if you would like to be a volunteer with PEEP, please call (212) 289‐5300 or email strashun@searchandcare.org.
